Clear Moments is an iPhone app that helps you review photos and a few related things on the phone you are holding. This page says what the app touches, and what it does not send anywhere.

Photos and videos

If you allow access to the photo library, the app reads photos and videos in order to group them into moments, compare similar shots, find large files, read screenshots, compress videos, and carry out a deletion or export you confirmed.

That work happens on the device. The app does not upload your library, and it does not operate a server that stores photos or videos. A deletion uses the system photo library. Recovering a deleted item, while iOS still allows it, is done in the Photos app under Recently Deleted.

If you choose to strip identifying metadata from a photo, the app writes a new copy without GPS, EXIF, and the Apple maker note. The pixels are not sent off the device to do this.

Place names

To title a moment with a city rather than only a date, the app may ask Apple’s geocoder for a place name. That request includes a location from the photo and is sent to Apple, not to us. Results are cached on the device. A moment still works if the lookup fails. We do not receive the coordinate or the name.

Contacts

Contact access is used only if you open the duplicate-contact tool. The app reads names, phone numbers, and email addresses on the device to find people saved twice, and merges them only after you confirm. Contacts are not uploaded.

Vault and Face ID

The vault keeps a copy of a photo encrypted on the device, with the key in the Keychain, and then removes the original from the library. Face ID or the device passcode is used only to unlock that vault. Biometric data stays with the operating system. We never receive it.

The vault is not a backup. The encrypted files live in the app’s own storage. Deleting the app deletes the vault.

Purchases

Premium is an auto-renewable subscription sold by Apple. Payment is handled by the App Store. We do not receive your card number. The app learns, on the device, whether this Apple Account has an active subscription, so it can turn the monthly limits off. There is no Clear Moments account to register.

What we do not do

• No advertising and no third-party analytics.
• No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
• No sale of personal information.
• No account, and no profile built from your library.

Settings and monthly counters are stored on the device.

Children

Clear Moments is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
